Gérard Dayné's House in Cogne is an old country cottage dating back to the 17th century, and is one of the best examples of the typical architecture of Cogne Valley, which uses wood and stone.
Its use as a cultural and social museum is an apt setting for the artefacts that remind us how families once lived. It is a testament to the agricultural and forest environment, everyday objects, religious art and beliefs and legends of the past, giving us greater insight into the community's setting and history.
In addition to highlighting the architectural features of the house, the guided tour tells the story of "life in the past", helping visitors to see how our ancestors used rooms in their houses and how they lived and survived in the 18th and 19th centuries.
